Hello! My name is Lotem Bassan-Nygate, I'm a PhD candidate at the Political Science department at the University of Wisconsin -- Madison. In the academic year 2022-2023 I will be a predoctoral fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School's Middle East Initiative.
My research interests lie in the intersection of political psychology and international institutions. I study how international actors shape domestic norms and public opinion, with a regional focus on human rights in Israel. I also work on several projects that propose different ways to encourage empathetic behavior, reduce affective polarization, and improve experimental methods.
My work appeared or is forthcoming in Comparative Political Studies, World Trade Review and International Relations.
I hold a B.A. (magna cum laude) in International Relations and Communications and a M.A. in International Relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.
